S-21 The Remembered

During Pol Pots bloody dictatorship in Cambodia with the Khmer Rouge in the Late 70's hundreds of schools were turned into concentration camps where thousands were murdered and tortured. Men, women, children and babies alike met this fate! If unlucky enough to survive their ordeal they were lied to and told they would be taken back to their families. Instead they were taken to killing fields all over the country and met gruesome barbarick deaths!

One of the most famous of these concentration camps was called S-21. S-21 is based in Phnom Penh and saw some of the worst of these atrocities. The complex today is still very much how it was then, rooms that have discarded clothes from those murdered sit in the same place and blood still stains the tiled floors.

Walking around the buildings you can only imagine what it must have been like and even then you are probably a hundred miles away from the reality of it. Every inch of the three buildings has a story to tell.
This photo is the story of a child who lost their life in such a way. Not even listing a name but only a number it is a tribute to the memory of a life that was brutally taken so early.
